Le Porche de Sarlat is above all a story of love at first sight.
“Arriving fifteen years ago in this land of culture and gastronomy that is the Dordogne, I literally fell in love with Sarlat, capital of the Périgord Noir (Black Périgord).
This town of art and history, favoured place of writers and poets such as Etienne de La Boétie and Paul Éluard, is a veritable architectural gem, with its medieval alleyways, small shops and markets (Wednesday and Saturday), its historic cathedral and its mansions. You are only a few kilometres from the most important prehistorical site in Europe – Lascaux – as well as the Dordogne River and its famous chateaux.
It was in this magnificent setting that I discovered, in 2012, what was to become “Le Porche de Sarlat”. A magnificent five hundred year old mansion, built in the bright yellow stone of the region, at the foot of the gothic 10th century Saint-Sacerdos Cathedral. Completely abandoned, it needed major renovation.
I undertook its restoration to offer my visitors upscale contemporary apartments, whilst retaining the charm of the old stone.
SItuated in the historic centre of the town, with its shops and entertainments, Le Porche de Sarlat offers a breath-taking view of the Cloister Courtyard of the cathedral, and the south of the Fountains Courtyard, an intimate place isolated from the flow of summer visitors.
You will enjoy the magic of waking up discovering the lauze stone roofs, bathed in sunlight, which are the peculiarity of our Périgord. Close to all amenities, you’ll also be pleased to be able to access everything on foot.
Service, hospitality and availability are the watchwords. Everything is done to make you feel at home. The building entrance is secured by an access code and my reception office is on site. It is with great pleasure that I can recommend excellent restaurants, excursions and transport that I know, to make your visit perfect.
My aim: that you have an unforgettable memory of your stay. “
